The Inevitable Change

Warmth engulfs me in this cold wind
As I hear my phone ring.
Two lit up faces look back
As I stare at them in awe
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Clouds of fond memories swamp me
As we giggle over silly anecdotes
and amusing throwbacks
Back when we were a pack.
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

I am reminded of our late night talks,
our long beach walks
The way we spent hours just discussing dreams
and our eyes would gleam
Random conversations
No inhibitions
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Those unplanned trips,
and spontaneous theatre visits
Getting drenched in the rain
When life didn't seem so vain
Impulsively bunking classes
From giving atrocious relationship advice
To being a shoulder so wise
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Years have passed,
We have now grown up
Responsibilities haunt us more
than the ghosts of our past.
We have grown up at last
But as I sit and stare at
those two familiar faces on my screen arranged
I cannot help but wonder
Have we all really changed?

R.I.P

Her affection seemed to nag him.
He asked her to cut it out!
She obliged.
The blood stained clothes and his bleeding body now

Rested In Pieces...

The Prisoner

Her wings are chained
like her heart,
to the walls of her captive soul
in a tiny dark room of her body,
It screams to break free....
To attain the key and unlock,
The dreams and desires that flock,
Her eyes can see the light of dawn,
Her mind can feel its warmth,
Oh! But why does the soul still feel so cold?
The mind so rational wonders how
her beating heart feels so lifeless...
Her fingers, the wrinkles left from a smile, they caress..
Yet, the empty dying soul hunts for the lost key,
For her wings are chained
And it screams to break free......

A Day in the life of...moi!

 Shocking Pink sling bag
Cons:
1.       It costs Rs.3500/-
2.       I don’t have Rs.3500/-
3.       I mean I do have Rs.3500/- but I plan on spending that on those red ankle length trousers.
4.       It doesn’t come with a guarantee.
5.       I would not be using it much.
6.       I cannot carry it to work because it is too tiny.
7.       It would not go well with all colors.
8.       It isn’t water proof (but then neither am I).
9.       Uhh!! I can’t think of anything more.
10.   Maybe I should list the pros too and then decide.

Pros:
1.       I want it.
2.       I NEED it.
3.       It’s such a beautiful shade of pink.
4.       I am irresistibly in love with it.
5.       It’s just a matter of a few hundreds.
6.       It will go so well with my black polka dress. Oh and yea the gray tunic too.
7.       Maybe I can pair it up with pink shoes.
8.       Omg! I don’t have pink shoes.
9.       I NEED pink shoes as well.
10.   No! I am NOT a shopaholic.

Jealous 21

November. The month I love the most. Why? well because I'm a hard core narcissist and since I was born on the seventh day of the eleventh month of the year, it is my favorite. 7th November 2013, the day I was waiting for from the time I had turned sixteen was finally here. I was finally 21. I was finally an adult. 21 seemed like a magical number for me. Me being a person who practically resides in her delusional fantasies expected life to change the moment I turned 21. I expected my fairy godmother to come and transform my world. The worst part about reality is that it hits like a tsunami. Anyway, I thought I'd make a list of all the expectations that I had versus the reality that is biting my back. So here it goes...

1.

Expectation: Being independent. No more parent's permission required.
 Reality:         Mum's still the word.

2.

  Expectation: Partying wild.
Reality:         Sleepover with girl friends watching movies and gossiping.

3.

  Expectation: No more curfew time.
  Reality:         Pfft!! You wish!

4.

Expectation: Can't wait for Saturday. *wink wink*
Reality:         Yea I'm just going to sleep at home because the pillows and
blankets consider me one of their own.

5.

Expectation: Saving and investing every month.
Reality:         The bank statement shows a lol below the balance.

6.

  Expectation: Shop till you drop.
Reality:         The only thing that drops during shopping is your jaw after seeing
price tag. Oh and also your expectations, they drop too! :P

7.

Expectation: Going on long road trips with friends
Reality:         Going to movie theater 4 km away from home totally makes
                         up for it.*yea right*

8.

Expectation: Missed call from parents..it's going to be cool.
Reality:         Lol joke. This is spaaartttaaaa! *sigh*

9.

Expectation: Drink and get high and finally know what a hangover feels like.
Reality:         Umm.. Does Pepsi count? ;)

10.

    Expectation: Smoking? Sure why not?
Reality:         Incense sticks and tandoor smoke here I come!! :D

11.

Expectation: Being in a committed serious relationship
Reality:         Ice cream and shoes I love you! :')

12.

Expectation: Being a level headed strong independent lady
Reality:         Being your parent's lil princess.

Maybe my fairy godmother got stuck in a tree somewhere and she will probably find me before my 22nd birthday.. Till then I gotta live with my reality which ain't bad as I claim it to be,because I know there are many other nerds living the same "swag" life as me! Hi 5 to all you people out there! I feel y'all! ;)

Feminism

My friend and me were discussing the various ways in which feminists are stereotyped. As annoying as it gets, it has its moments too..The problem with me is I am allergic to bull shit and instead of a rash, I break out in sarcasm. And when I get sarcastic or furious, I write so it is a blessing in disguise for me! :P Anyway, here are a few things that I face as a feminist:

1.Yes, I’m a feminist, yes, I believe in equality but that doesn’t mean I totally despise chivalry. A little chivalry at times can go a long way. No, I’m not asking a guy to be macho and open the doors, pull a chair or take the tab always, but a little civility and gentility does not hurt.

2.My views on equality are frequently questioned by many and I’m also accused of being a hypocrite when it comes to my opinion on physical abuse. So why is it that I’m against physical abuse of a woman by a man? Why is it that a woman can hit a man but if a man does the same it would be called abusive and cheap? Well firstly, I’m totally against anyone hurting anyone for no reason. If anyone hits a person in self defense it is fine, irrespective of the gender.  But if a man just randomly hits a lady thinking she isn’t strong enough, it shows his character more than anything else. Same goes for a lady.  So basically my point is physical abuse is wrong be it against a female, male or an animal.

3.No, I do not advocate feminism because it is “the in-thing” or “it is so in Vogue”. A huge misconception that people in general have is that feminism is a fad that goes around for some time and then eventually dies down. Seriously guys, get this straight it is feminism we are talking about, not some random epidemic or plague going around the village.

4.Just because I’m a feminist does not mean I do not respect customs or believe in god. If that is what you think it means, then you urgently need to get yourself a dictionary. A non believer in god is called an atheist not a feminist. For the last time a feminist can also be very religious and god fearing so kindly stop stereotyping.

5.We feminists are also labeled as uptight and boring. Honestly if being opinionated is as good as being lackluster then Golden Globe for the “most boring woman” would be shared by Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres.

6.Another common delusion is that men cannot be feminists. And if a man fights for a feministic cause then he gains the “oh so not manly” title. People living in their own delusional fantasies, kindly open your eyes and look around. Almost all famous and gorgeous men are hard core feminists.

PS: Thank you Supraja for the fab topic. It feels great venting out.

THE GIFT

Cold wind blows through the French curtains in her dimly lit bedroom making her shiver. Everything about the room looks the same as it was a few years ago, yet nothing feels the same. The blue room walls adorned with her favorite artifacts somehow make her sick today. The numerous collages and photo frames make her gloomier than ever. Her princess bed sitting in the corner of the room only makes her more melancholic. She glides through the room at a snail’s pace, trying to cheer herself up but every attempt at it only seems vain. She stumbles upon the packed bags that seem all ready to move out unlike her. Gathering all the strength she can muster she opens the untouched gift package with trembling hands. The silver shines blinding her eyes. Keeping the gift aside she reads the note. She can almost hear his voice as she reads it. His words accelerate her heartbeats. Tears of joy stroll down her cheeks as she reads the golden words in the post script. She hugs her gift tightly for the last time and tears the note apart. As much as her heart wants to keep it, she knows she has to let it go. She finally feels ready to move on, to start her new life today.
The room burns down to an eerie silence as she enters. Whispers and gazes surround her as she drags herself through the crowd. She sees him there, at the center of the room waiting for her just like everyone else. On reaching closer she looks at his face, as blank as ever, the only difference this time is that it looks very peaceful.

She is left alone with him and the cold wind which seems to get harsher by the hour. All the memories come rushing back to her. They both stare into the sky, gazing at the stars. She feels safer with him around. Happier knowing that he would not leave her now. No matter what, he will always be there like he promised. She bends over and leaves her shiny silver gift with him, walking away from his grave, thinking about the letter which claims his death by the silver shiny murder weapon and the post script which says
“your wish my command”.

The defeat..

A freckled face, wide smile and twinkling eyes,
I see you sitting on your favorite chair,
Leafing through the recent pick
You wink at me listening to her constant advise.
She is furious we both realize,
But you don't let go of your child like grin,
Because you know otherwise..
You let me win

Strolling on the road
in the bright shining sun,
we roam..you accompany me,
because I find it fun...
You get me chocolate bars
And a pair of cards;
I pester you to play
Scowl, yell and throw fits till you do what I say,
You let me win.

Bang my books and my head
Use you gray matter wisely,
it's easy you say
You amaze me with facts
You dazzle me with stories
You crack me up with jokes
I leave because it's time to go,
You let me win.

I tell you about my day,
After a while you ask me again,
I assume it to be one of your tricks
Until I realize the truth
You keep asking me time and again
I read to you, you pretend to understand
But we both know
You just let me win.

I come to you,
telling you that this time just like you,
they let me win,
I show you my award
You smile,
We both know, you don't recognize me anymore
But you still let me win.

I fall on the ground with weak knees,
I see you lying there peacefully
Same freckled face,
but eyes shut and lips sealed
Covered in white;
Flowers adorn your feet
Tears from my eyes fall on your hand
This time I don't fight;I don't retaliate
You seem so free from all the pain,
So for the first time..
I let you win.

Skin Deep

"People think of all colors except the absence of color. Black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony"

Flipping channels on the ridiculously boring idiot box,I can't help but notice the ever growing number of fairness product commercials.Statistically speaking these are played more than hundred times in a day.The question is why are these commercials growing so alarmingly? Why is there so much supply and marketing done for these products. Well the only sane reason I can think of as a commerce student is the need. Simple economics says that the more the demand the more is the supply and the more the competition, more are the ways to beat it.The point here is why is there so much of demand for them in a brown skinned country?
I've heard many Indians complain about racist comments being passed against them by the so called 'white skinned people' but frankly I've never come across any.The only racism I've witnessed was hosted by my very own brown skinned people. The time when every other child in the world was taking moral lessons from the famous fairy tale "snow white", Indians seemed to be wedged on the "as white as snow" page. And as far fetched this may seem I guess we are still trapped on the same page.
Being born with a natural wheatish complexion in a community of "fair skinned" Brahmins, there were times when I was always made to feel like an outcast.Growing up in a place where the color of my skin decided my abilities,I rebelled my way to success. Now when I look back, all the slurry comments seem rather obtuse. But as a growing self conscious teenager they were like thorns pricking a velvety heart, tearing and leaving scars. For me the tables have turned now.I don't allow such minor things affect me.I feel proud of my skin color and flaunt it with attitude for I like to believe that I am no less than the "fair and beauties".
Whenever I come across these commercials I realise I am not the only one to suffer from discrimination. Infact most Indians I know are obsessed with a "white" skin.I personally feel the light skin ones take the color of their skin in stride to hide their insecurities and deformities.I do not think that applying such chemicals to my face would change my god gifted color and not that I intend to either.I am not against these companies who develop and manufacture such products. They are just tending to the needs of the general public.Neither am I against the celebrities who endorse them because it is their way of bread and butter but I certainly do respect those who say no to such endorsements and are proud to flaunt their natural complexion.I am not in favour of the mindset of an average Indian who feels that white is beautiful.Even after 66 years of independence it pains to see that our country still suffers from the evil of racism. And till such mindset persists we cannot have harmony in the society.
The mighty force up there has made us all unique in our own ways so then why do we always try to copy and imitate each other? Is it because we haven't really developed from our "monkey instincts"?

All in all I can say is racist thoughts and actions say far more about the person they come from than the person they are directed at.

*peace*

What if?

I sit there wondering
What if...
What if I had not taken the road less traveled,
What if I had not followed my instincts,
What if I had killed my heart's desires,
What if I had chosen a path that was graveled;
Would the struggle be any different?

I sit there pondering
What if..
What if I had followed the herd
What if I had agreed with the dirt
What if I hadn't called them absurd;
Would then i triumph?

I sit there speculating
What if..
What if I had taken the oars in the lake of fake,
What if I had swallowed hypocrisy like a cake,
What if I hadn't fought injustice,
What if I had surrendered to the prejudice;
Would have i still lost the game?

And now i sit here deducing
Like a solitary ship on an island abandoned,
I would have won the battle,
says a whisper in my head..
But I would have lost myself.

Because it's You..

With you
the insanities seem sane
the weird talks seem normal
confused paths look sorted
the world feels safe
you lighten up my days
brighten my nights
wipe away my worries
With you around
i know il b fine
only because
Its you...

Seasons of life..

It is said that the best moments in life happen when you least expect them. They say that the best days start out as normal days,it is up to you to identify them and seize them and live in the moment because the thing about the best moments, the best days is that they don't last forever...
At one point you have everything you can wish for and have possibly dreamt of.Life feels like a fairytale.Like a perfect fairytale where dreams come true and you can't stop smiling and thanking the mighty power that is making it happen...
You have a perfect family, a perfect job, perfect friends, a perfect partner and all the happiness in the world which sums up to having a perfect life. That is the time when you can't wait for tomorrow because you expect it to be bright and shiny just like the present..But then the mighty wind blows..the hurricane, which disrupts your bright sunny life, which crashes your success, which uproots your relationships and the worst, destroys your faith! And now you are left hopeless like a burning candle in the rains..you try hard to keep the flame on but you don't stand a chance against the winds and the rains of disappointment and failure.
You look back and try to figure out where things went wrong. You try your hardest to get back in the past so much so that you start living there, you start wishing you had seized those moments, you start running away from the miseries of the present, you start running away from the society, from the people once you termed your own..you start running away from life..
And then the hurricane fades leaving you broken, scarred and damaged. The sun rises from the clouds again but your wounds have not still healed, they pain, they burn but you still decide to stand, take another chance because even after what you can lose in a moment, there is always something that helps you hold yourself together..Maybe because you don't have a choice or maybe because you are just a human and you are designed that way or maybe because after a certain point you get used to the pain that everything else stops mattering..
Despite everything,at the end things go back to normal but the only difference this time is that you know that they won't be normal forever and you know that this is not the end but just a new beginning......

The Silent Battle

she stood there waiting
a lil voice in her heart whispered
he would come
but her mind told her otherwise..
reminded her of the pain inflicted and lies
an empty feeling gradually crept
upon her crushed heart which silently wept
the golden memories seemed only distant now
the unfulfilled promises and wows
depressed her even more
as the melancholy in the air grew..
she stood there thinking
what had gone wrong?
her heart wondered
if there was still some hope
but her mind showed her the crude reality..
she stood there crying
because she knew
it was time she moved on
her heart had lost again...

This is a small composition from hermione to Ron for my Hp fanfic.. its not really complete....

Somewhere, Some place, In the midst of nowhere,
is a world,
where you belong with me..
where there is you, me and
our fantasies
where my mornings start with the blink of your bright twinkling eyes
where the moon drowns in your love scented arms..
where life isnt my biggest nemesis,
where we are free like the monsoon breeze,
to sing and dance as we please
where there are no wars and the world is at peace
Somewhere some place in d midst of nowhere,
i wonder if such a place exists....

The Other WOMAN

"Morning sleepy head, time to get up!!" He drew aside the curtains and i had sun rays touch my face. What a great feeling it is, getting up next to the person you love and getting to see his face right in the morning.I stretched and went out into the living room, our living room, only to find him making breakfast on the kitchen counter which is visible from the living room thanks to the lil window.I went and sat on the window panel thinking about the day when I had first met him.He was this tall man with prominent features and a handsome face, dressed to kill... And me, well I was a single meek girl who was lonely and helpless. He was like my knight in shining armour. The moment we looked at each other, something clicked. It was like we had a moment,it was what they call"LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!". He came close to where I was standing and took me to the adjacent park.It was like the best date ever. And then we went home, his home, which was soon to be mine too. His home was a cozy place which looked even better to me considering the fact that I didnt have proper luxuries like this man.I stayed for over a week.He didnt ask me to leave. I guess he needed company too.But then after a few days his wife had moved back into the house and she was shocked to see me.I personally feel that she was just jealous because i was more prettier than her.She yelled and screamed and threw tantrums.Him being a noble soul promised her that I would be in the other room. But the lady used to despise me.I was scared to eat whenever she cooked coz i feared that it might be poisoned. So I would usually eat out!
once i remember her coming home early and banging all the bought groceries on the table,She looked all worked up and i remember her telling someone that a party had been planned for the night...She saw me eavsdropping and forced me to leave and when I didnt she pushed me out of the house.According to her the party had to be perfect and for that I had to be out of it.I was locked out till he came and rescued me for the second time..by now i was really sure that he was the one and i could do anything for him...ANYTHING!He was irked by her inhumane behaviour and yelled at her and got me back in.He figured out that i was cold so he wrapped me up in a blanket, stroked my neck and put me to sleep..I pressed against him and purred my thanks!

ENCOUTERS WITH MISS BIMBO

Bimbo is a term that in popular English language usage describes a woman who is physically attractive but is perceived to have a low intelligence or poor education. The term itself is not explicitly negative, but can be used as a derogative insult towards a woman.
Use of this term began in the United States as early as 1919, where it was used as a slang term for an unintelligent or brutish male. Its first inclusion in an official dictionary for its female meaning was in 1929, where the definition was given simply as "a woman".
The term Bimbo is often associated with, but is separate from, the stereotypes of "Dumb Blonde" and "Valley Girl".

Well looks like bimbos have been irritating us normal earthlings from decades, I wonder when they are gonna spare us this horror of their magically malfunctioning brains and their senseless humour?!?!?!?urhhhhh... okay ive got no idea why I am writing all this.. well maybe its the BIMBO effect.. OMG!! YELLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!

FREEDOM.....

These are a few lines from one of my fav. poem...

Free as flowers in the summer breeze
Free as free falling in the windy heavens
Free as an eagle soaring through the sky
Free as a plane gliding across the western horizon

Free to say anything and anywhere
Free to express ourselves
Free to express our moods and emotion
Free to dance in public and sing at any time of the day...

Pessimism...

As I Sink in My BED
  and Think,
YOU Creep Into my Mind
   and Wink..
When I look at the Glass as
  HALF-FULL
 YOU Emphasis on D Empty
Part of it,
and make me feel Like A
   MISFIT!!
As I travel Back through
The POSITIVE memoirs
YOU take me back to my life's
   TRAGEDIES,
No matter how hard I try
   YOU always make me cry...
And now as YOU get Your way,
Am sure YOU must be pleased and Gay,
YOU have driven me from
     FAITH to SKEPTICISM
YOU have finally succeeded
   PESSIMISM.....................
